Sketching the vision

Hotels.com is an online hotel search much like Expedia or Airbnb that allows the user to book a hotel of their choice from any location. I created a refreshed design direction to improve the internal layout as well as the step by step navigation and overall branding.
I was inspired to create this design because I wanted the hotels.com experience to feel more inviting and less stressful for all users.

Refining the concept

The final design took a series of weeks to develop and changed dramatically from start to end based on user testing. I tweaked many elements to make the check-out process as seamless as possible. Along the way, users should expect cleaner layouts, a more uplifting vibe, and the final outcome should allow the user to feel satisfied with their booking.

The reward of creation

Creating a journey that is enjoyable for the consumer and significantly more inviting than the current website was an exceptionally gratifying process. This task involved reimagining and redesigning the user experience from the ground up, with a focus on making it not just functional, but genuinely engaging and appealing.

Takeaways

Seeing the hotels.com redesign that took place recently was eye-opening. Being able to pinpoint features that make the user experience so much better was a huge step in expanding my knowledge about UX/UI. For me, it reaffirmed the value of thoughtful design and its ability to transform a digital experience into something that is not only functional but truly enjoyable for users.
