Sunny Sips

Overview

The project that inspired the brand 'Sunny Sips' was called the 10/20 project. We did something for 10 days for 20 minutes. I chose to create these colorful circles by taking a photo everyday on my daily walk or out and about. I then pulled some colors from that photo into the app 'procreate' on my iPad. I used the liquify, chromatic effects, and saturation levels to create the desired look I was going for within each circle.

Sketching the vision

The application concept I chose for this project was a redesign of fruity soda cans (example brands are olipop or poppi). These soda cans are a huge hit since they are a “gut healthy” soda. They are more focused on pre and probiotics and having a happy belly! I felt that this was an appropriate direction since the swirl of colors that I created acted as two fruits coming together to make a new flavor. This concept is done within these brands (ex. Cherry Vanilla) but it is straight forward imagery. The whole idea of this new concept is that it is abstract and interesting to the viewer in a different way.

Refining the concept

Once I had my "swirly circles," I chose my favorite four that I felt would best work for flavor combinations and went from there. I wanted to use a fun and playful font, since the name sunny sips feels like summer time. Also, I wanted to color palette on the actual cans to be bright and colorful, but not overpower the swirl designs.

The reward of creation

After choosing my colors, font and circles, I was able to start creating the brand. The cans stayed quite simple with the name of each flavor and the nutrition callouts.

Takeaways

This project was really fun to work on and reminded me how great it is to take something from scratch and turn it into something that feels real. The journey from concept to completion not only provided a sense of achievement but also renewed my appreciation for the dynamic and rewarding nature of creative projects.
